The School Resource Officer (SRO) enforces all local, federal and state laws relating to public safety and welfare; performs all duties in compliance with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations and standards of safety. The School Resource Officer provides security for assigned school, assisting in the maintenance of order and public safety and the well-being of students, faculty, staff and visitors. The SRO patrols campus frequently; develops and implements a school safety plan; provides individual and group counseling for students; monitors student behavior during lunch, between classes and other times to maintain order; investigates school crimes; identifies gang activity; participates in school / extracurricular activities, as appropriate, and has other related responsibilities.
EQUIVALENT EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Must be certified as a class-one law enforcement officer for the state of South Carolina, with a minimum of three years of experience in law enforcement. Previous training and assignment as a School Resource Officer is preferred, but not necessary. High school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 21 years-of-age, and a United States citizen.
$42,237 per year minimum (or $18.88/hr)
