Laundry Technician
Job Purpose
The Detention Center Laundry Technician supports daily jail operations by laundering and distributing inmate and staff clothing, bedding, and linens in a secure detention facility. This position plays an essential role in maintaining sanitation, safety, and operational standards and requires strict adherence to security procedures.
Schedule: 1:00 PM – Midnight on a rotating schedule (includes evenings and weekends)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collects, launders, and distributes inmate and staff laundry according to established schedules.
- Maintains sanitation standards and cleans laundry equipment and work areas daily.
- Follows all safety, security, OSHA, and Bloodborne Pathogen protocols.
- Conducts routine inspections for sanitation, security, and maintenance concerns.
- Performs physically active work, including lifting, standing, and repetitive tasks.
Job Specifications and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- No experience required; training provided.
- Valid South Carolina driver’s license or South Carolina identification card.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
• Hours: 1:00 PM – Midnight on a rotating schedule (includes evenings and weekends).
- Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
- Positions in this class typically require pulling, pushing, lifting, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking, repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, climbing and balancing, moving mechanical parts, odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, and intense noises.
