Job Purpose

This is a night shift position.

Delivers timely and accurate customer service to entities, both internal and external, on a continuous basis.  Directs and assists the public in obtaining information and services regarding general quality of life issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains a working knowledge of services provided by other agencies, businesses, and government entities in the area and provides contact information and directions to those locations.
  • Reviews, processes, researches, and enters data within various law enforcement databases, both external and internal, often under time pressure and under the influence of numerous potential distractions.
  • Performs duties and tasks assigned to unit such as: greeting the public, answering phones, and mediating.
  • Performs other similar duties as required.

Job Specifications and Qualifications

Knowledge:

  • Physical locations of entities within the County to direct people;
  • Nonprofit help organizations and the services they provide;
  • Numerous databases to assist with the functions of the position;
  • Microsoft Office to write reports and perform other functions of the position;

Skills:

  • Decision making in stressful situations;
  • Multi-tasking over a number of projects and assignments;
  • Written and verbal communication via in-person, phone and email contact.

Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, with no experience required.

Licensing and Certifications:

  • Must have or must have the ability to complete a 40 hour NCIC Certification;
  • Valid South Carolina Driver’s License.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. ¬†If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
  • Positions in this class typically require fingering, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking, repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
